Basslets Fish
Basslets are a type of small fish that live in the ocean. They are known for having bright colors, being tough, and being calm. In captivity, most kinds of basslets never get bigger than 2 1/2 to 3 inches. They are different shades of red, yellow, orange, purple, tan, black, and white. Basslet species belong to two groups: the Gramma and the Lipogramma. Marine aquarium owners like them a lot, and you can put them in any saltwater tank, even reef and nano reef tanks.
Because they live in deep water, they like tanks with lots of coral and rocks to hide in and not too much light. But if you want to keep more than one Basslet, make sure the tank is big enough because they are protective. The Basslet will each claim a small area with a hidden spot as its own and will viciously fight other Basslets for these areas. To make things safe, you must bring more than one Basslet to your tank at the same time. When these fish are first brought into a tank, they often hide in cracks and caves for days or even weeks until they feel safe enough to explore their new home. Basslets eat meat, so they will happily eat cold, meaty things like brine shrimp and mysis shrimp.
Some interesting facts Basslets
It is possible for basslets to change from being female to male. Fairy basslets are the name for all of these tropical species. The males of this family are brighter in color than the females. Most of the time, these fish weigh between 1 and 2 ounces. Basslets breed at dusk to stay safe from animals that might eat them.
Note:
If you see the words “Aquarium Conditioned” next to a sea fish, that means the fish has been through our Aquarium Conditioning Process, which can last anywhere from 15 to 30 days based on the species. The fish first go through Quarantine when they get here before they are put into our tank life systems. Here, they get used to living in a tank slowly, and we have a special way of getting them to eat well. As long as they are fed well, this process takes long enough to give us confidence that the marine fish we send you will do well in a good tank and live a long time. When having saltwater fish in a tank, these are the two most important things to think about.
