A snapper

The family of seafish called Lutjanidae includes about 113 different species. Snappers are a species of this family. Big schools of these fish, which can grow up to 3.3 feet long, often swim together. Their needs change quickly because they get too big to keep alone and need to be kept in groups. Snappers are generally calm fish that do well in very big saltwater community tanks with other calm species.

Starts

Snappers usually live in the tropical and subtropical parts of the world’s seas. You can find these fish at depths of about 100 meters, near rocks or coral reefs. At depths of up to 500 meters, they can be found in more open water.

Color

Snappers come in more than 100 different kinds, and their colors and patterns are very different. Some snappers are more subdued in color, with silver, gray, tan, and brown spots; others are brighter, with blue or yellow lines. Snappers can be red, green, orange, pink, or purple as well.

Take care of and maintain

The size of snappers makes it hard to keep them in a home tank. They need very big tanks that can hold at least 300 gallons. Snails of different kinds live in different places, but most of them live in reefs with rocks or coral. So, the tank should only have a few pieces of live rock or hardy corals in it. These fish like warm temperatures between 72°F and 82°F. They also like water that is slightly alkaline (pH between 8.1 and 8.4) and not too hard (dKH between 8 and 12).

Being fed

Snappers come in two different types based on how they eat. Some snappers eat mostly plankton and creatures that live on the bottom of the ocean. Benthic eaters should be given a range of fresh and frozen foods, such as worms, shrimp, clams, crustaceans like crabs, and other invertebrates.

About Breeding

Snappers live in groups and have unique ways of reproducing. Most of the time, they spawn in groups, sending a lot of eggs and sperm into the water at once. During the fall and winter, snappers often spawn more than once.
